Man has created many paradigm, such as time, technology, space travel, etc. Man has also created theories that ponder the thought to believe in a “perfect society” or a utopia. Why is it that when we think of a utopian society, we think of clean air and water, no wars or nuclear weapons, and people who live in harmony. Society has taken a toll on our lives. I will expand upon the idea of a utopia vs a dystopia as well as expanding on the concept of creating things.

There is always open opportunities for harassment. Social media has changed everyone’s point of view on what popularity is based upon how many followers one has on all their platforms. Some of the major platforms include Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. The Girl Who Was Plugged In delivers the concept that superficial appearances are more valuable than self identity.
This novel exemplifies how easy it is to put on a mask to impress others and try to go through life with a smile. Society has taught us that having a mask can be a good thing, thus tapping into our insecurities leaving us feeling ashamed about ourselves. Having a mask walks you down a path , where it leads you to a forgetting your identity. It parallels to a TV show called Catfish from MTV, where they search the entire country to figure out who the actual “plugged in” person is.
However, not everyone believes a utopian society exists. There is no such thing as a “perfect society.” Peace and harmony coexisting is limited nowadays. In The Atomic Café documentary, they portray how a utopia is just a propaganda used in wars. The documentary also displayed the true intentions of America during the dawn of Atomic America.
