James Michener When Does Education Stop

In the essay “ When does education stop?” by James Michener , Michener makes the opinion in the essay that education will never stop, and that college will not give the average person the proper education needed. Michener’s essay is very agreeable and persuasive. One of the first points Michener makes is that work takes deduction. In Michener’s essay he stated that “Responsible men and women leap to the challenge of jobs that require enormous dedication and years to fulfil.” This statement is true, because men and women challenge themselves to challenges that take dedication and hard work. A second point Michener makes is for people to challenge themselves, for example Michener stated that “People frequently fail to realize that men and women who wish to accomplish anything must apply themselves to takes of termination, this is true because you have to put in hard work to reach our goals.” So for people to become successful they must work hard and challenge themselves. …show more content…
He says that college can only prepare for one occupation during a person's lifetime, this is agreeable because there is always something more to learn in life. In Michener’s essay he states that he has had many jobs but college had not prepared him for any curtain preparation any of those job. Michener also states that he believes that only people with a wide variety of education can perform specific tasks. This is agreeable because most likely people will have more than one job in their lifetime and the more you know the more you can provide. “ Forty years from now scientists in your class will be scientists and the liberal arts men will be governing the world.” This is a point Michener is trying to point out, that if people don’t push themselves to bigger jobs they will stay the same and never move
