Topic: Adolescent Identity Development: James Marcia
There are many components to the formation of adolescent identity development. The main goal of identity development in adolescents is to develop a clear vision of oneself.
Identity is the process of finding our true self.
James Marcia is a theorist who expanded with Erikson’s concept of identity crisis and identity confusion. Marcia’s theory vividly categorizes four main points which are: diffusion, foreclosure, moratorium, and achievement.
Identity diffusion describes an adolescent who have not explored nor committed to any certain identity.
