When Robert Morgan wrote “No True History of Westward Expansion”, he used it to express his opinion about the history of westward expansion. I agree with morgan that history justs talks about the leaders and the figures of the eras or of movements. Morgan accurately identifies that history just talks on its own by using these central ideas: “history is not made up of just a few heros and villians”, and “Average citizens were responsible for westward expansion”. This essay will also use other text to support the claim will mainly be using these three texts: “Thomas Jefferson’s America, 1801” --Stephen Ambrose “Reporting to the President, September 23- December 31, 1806” (pages 418-21), “No True History of Westward Expansion” and “Chief Joseph Speaks…”…

In the American Crucible, Gary Gerstle expresses an all-encompassing of the historiographical mainstream in America’s cultural, history and a sociological standpoint of Americans identified as Anglo-Saxons throughout the twentieth-century. The book's objective is to look at American history during the twentieth-century in a completely new way. The Cherokee Nation and the Trail of Tears During the spring semester of 2016, I was given the opportunity to read a very insightful book called, The Cherokee Nation and the Trail of Tears, by Theda Purdue and Micheal D. Green. The book covers the events leading up to, during, and directly after the Trail of Tears. The Trail of Tears was the mass migration of Native Americans from their motherland in the eastern shores of the United States, to the territories of the southwestern United States. Throughout the early 19th Century, there were many conflicts between the government and Native Americans; although none were more racially and economically motivated than that of the state of Georgia and it’s citizens. “We believe the present plan…

People repeat themselves not History While we take a look at the article written by E. No book or movie is ever alike. This is shown in the book “Enders Game” by Orson Scott Card and the Enders Game movie by Gaven Hood, where the book and movie had many similarities but as well had many differences. In the novel Ender is portrayed as a very different kid after he gets to battle school; however this is not shown in the movie. Another difference would be how Lock and Demosthenes were not mentioned at all in the movie, yet had a huge role in the book, and the final would be the endings for both the movie and book as well as Enders reaction to what’s going on in the end. These three reasons show how the movie is very different from the book.…

One major difference between the two is that the movie ends and leaves the audience in hope. While on the other hand, the book leaves the reader in great guilt and despair. Though the book sounds better than the movie it does have an edge by being able to show the hardship of discrimination amongst society. It really gives the audience a look on how group conformity is supporting the cause. Although, the book is more straightforward and has a cause and effect action, with the war being in effect.…

In “The Landlady”, Billy Weaver is lured into a seemingly normal bed and breakfast by an old lady who, despite her gentle and unthreatening appearance, wants to kill him. It is a story about how those with cruel intent may take advantage of those who are innocent and naive. Although the book and the movie can be arguably similar if generalized, there are many differences that may change the way a reader/viewer may grasp the concept of the story. Since a movie and book cannot be exactly the same, the film version is bound to have things that differ from the text. One example of how the book develops the development of the story is with the setting.…
