James Dashner's The Maze Runner

The Maze Runner, written by James Dashner, just like Fahrenheit 451, has a kind of dictorian rule. The Maze Runner is about teens that get trapped in a maze. Once a month, “the box”, which delivers supplies, comes up. Supplies are limited so they have to evenly distribute it among themselves. The only way out of the maze is to find the other end. But, the maze closes during sundown, and if you don’t make it out, you would have to wait till morning to get back in the safezone, called the glade. Also you would have to face the maze monsters, known as Grievers. There’s a problem though; every night the maze shifts into a new pattern, so memory has no strength. Water is somewhat the key component of life. The lack of food, leads to the lack of trust. Trust is a major thing when trapped in a maze with people you don’t know. You have to trust that the others don’t finish all the food, or drink, and that in any situation they got your back. You have to trust that if all food does run out, they wouldn’t transition to cannibales. Like, the time Teresa came up with the supply box, the Gladers were shocked. Not because of a new arrival, but because she was the first and only girl to be in the glade. The other gladers were cautious of her, mainly because she greeted them by throwing them rocks. It took awhile, but after the protagonist, Thomas, had a talk with her, she calmed down and they all began to gain trust in Teresa. But, trust can deceive sometimes, especially when there’s disease spreading through the glade. This disease had a major effect on some gladers, that ended up making them turn on eachother. When Alby, who is was the first person to be put in the glade, got infected, he tried to kill Thomas, so Thomas ended up having to kill the glades most experienced glader. After this incident, the glade fell apart, and forced even the best to trust
