Jamaica is known to have an everlasting climate and fascinating geographical features. Jamaica is located in the Caribbean Sea and is a member of a chain of Islands known as the Greater Antilles. The other countries in this chain are Cuba, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, and the Cayman Islands. Jamaica is the third largest country out of all of them with the area of 4,244 mi2. Interestingly enough, Jamaica is the exact size of Connecticut! The Caribbean Sea is the body of water that completely surrounds this country. Jamaica is located six hundred miles south of the coast of Miami, Florida and 90 miles south of Cuba. All of these amazing attributes earned Jamaica the title, “land of wood and water”. Travelers of Jamaica have always been laured to the historic destination of Montego Bay. This caribbean tourist destination is surrounded by breathtaking hotels, white sand beaches, and the famous golf courses located within rolling hills. In 1494, Christopher Columbus founded this country and named it Montego Bay the gulf of good weather. This part of Jamaica is known for this and will continue to be a very famous attraction of Jamaica. Another popular destination in Jamaica is the capital city, Kingston. Also known as “the heartbeat of Jamaica”, it is the largest english speaking city in the Caribbean. It is located on the south eastern coast of the island. The capital is pressed between the world’s seventh-largest natural harbor and the Blue mountains. The Blue mountains are the longest mountain range in Jamaica. These mountains are home to the highest point, known as Blue Mountain Peak, reaching 2,256 meters. Some examples of other major mountains are the John Crow Mountains, Don Figueroa Mountains, and Cockpit Country
