Sean Baker first came onto my radar with 2015's Tangerine, the unique and moving story of a transgender girl searching on Christmas Eve for the pimp who broke her heart. Oh, and it was also shot almost entirely on an iPhone 5s. This made Baker a must-watch director for me. His newest film, The Florida Project, follows the life of a 6-year girl and her single mother over the course of one summer. Not much more detail than that is known other than the film also stars Willem Dafoe in what critics are calling one of his best performances.…

Odysseus returns to home before the story starts. In this book, Into the Wild, Chris McCandless, the main character of this story is dead before the author narrates what happened to him. The speaker in this book is very interesting.…

Social norms can be defined as the informal understanding that govern the behavior of members of society. Based on this definition Holden Caulfield and Chris McCandless can be seen as the antonym of social norms. Holden believes that nearly everyone and anything is a phony and expresses his disgust of them throughout the novel The Catcher in the Rye created by J.D Salinger. In the film, Stranger than Fiction, director, Marc Forster demonstrated the concept that the inevitability of fate is often presupposed. However, in reality, the small, seemingly insignificant acts can influence, and eventually alter the outcomes in life. His development of the main characters, Harold and Karen, the filming techniques used, and the use of motifs, imagery and symbolism augmented the strength of this idea. Additionally, the manner in which Forster developed the plot, and the application of point of view, mood, tone, and setting, as well as the specific lines and dialogue throughout the film supported this theme. Harold Crick was a structured man living in a world of “endless calculations” (Stranger than Fiction).…
