Dookhan’s co-workers described her as “superwoman” because of how fast she tested evidence, specifically drugs. It was stated that other lab technicians usually tested about 150 drug samples a month, meanwhile Dookhan was testing up to 500. Dookhans supervisor commented that he never saw Dookhan in front of a microscope, all of this raising high suspicion. Dookhan worked at Hinton Crime Lab for nine years where she tested more than 60,000 drug samples, putting over 11,000 people in jail, who may not even belong there.…

This was based on the evidence that chloroform was found in the trunk and a chloroform making site was visited 3 months prior to the child’s disappearance. According to an article (Grinberg, 2011), Dr. Arpad Vass inventor of the odor analysis that was presented in the trial was brought in by the prosecution to back up this theory. Dr. Arpad Vass of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory sometimes referred to as “the body farm,” explained to the jury how human decomposition works on a cellular level and what chemicals are produced during the process. The article Fetal Death and Reduced Birth Rates Associated with Exposure to Lead-Contaminated Drinking Water by Marc Edwards discusses some incidents regarding lead exposure, along with the correlation between this complication and fetal death, as well as miscarriages. At first glance the observation and claims being shown seem constructed with specific diction concerning a science, more precisely, ecological science. Throughout Edwards’s article, the claims presented are accompanied with the use of charts and notation. When viewing this notion of lexicon, it is suggested that the intended audience should possess knowledge and be familiar with certain vocabulary, as stated in the first sentence, “in children at thresholds >5 μg/dL and also >10 μg/dL” (739). We assume this as Edwards does not further elaborate on his charts and notations, leaving a portion of audience unsure of the truth and meaning behind these claims.…

Although animal experimentation has provided many benefits, there are alternatives to test toxic substances that may eliminate the cruel use of animals in research. The United States, along with many other countries, have turned to the use of animals in research labs to test human products for hazardous substances. According to the Kennedy Institute of Ethics Journal, the United States uses about 12 million animals every year making it the biggest conductor of animal experimentation in the world. Scientists and many companies believe that testing their products on animals save humans from being harmed if the product is toxic. However, no matter what the benefits of animal experimentation are, the tests conducted on the animals are cruel.…
