P: To continue to build a rapport with the client, and educate the family about personal hygiene.
QMHP met with the client at his home. IIHC initiated a conversation about hygiene. QMHP noticed previously that Jairon as well as other family members appear to be unaware about the relevance of personal hygiene. This activity was created to help Jairon and his family to develop healthy hygiene habits, and contribute to the family dynamic. QMHP opened a discussion about what germs are, and why would it be important to keep the hands clean. IHHC demonstrated to Jairon and his brother show to wash their hands properly. The children appeared to be interested in the topic.
QMHP also talked to Mrs. Luna, Jairon’s mother and encouraged her to develop positive communication skills. IHHC gave her specific examples, on what would be good ways of talking with her kids, and what would be less effective ways of talking to the children. Mrs. Luna stated that her children do not listen to her. QMHP pointed out the relevance of consistency, a routine, and other important aspect of parenting. Jairon was playing when QMHP arrived. He appeared in to be in good mood, as he was excited when he met IIHC. QMHP went over safety and hygiene habits. QMHP included a game called “Teach me what you learned,” in which the client had the opportunity to explain to QMHP what were safety things to do, versus others that were not that safe. When talking to Mrs, Luna, QMPH learned that the children had taken baths that evening. However, all children were playing outside. QMHP talked to Mrs Luna, explaining the relevance of developing a routine where the children stay inside the house once they take a bath. QMHP reminded Mrs. Luna that she is the leader at her household, and that the way she communicates with her children, deeply influenced their
