Experiment #18: School Belt, was presented by Erina, Patricia, and Ivy. In this presentation, they talked about the importance of the way in which children hold a spoon and brush for example. If the child does not correctly feed him or herself, the parent should try to guide them and teach them how to correctly go about feeding themselves. When using a specific object, a mental plan should be created that will help guide the way in which you will pick up the spoon or brush the first time you touch it. When a child tries to do the action on himself, for example, when feeding or brushing his/her hair, the child is bound to make fewer adjustments, compared to when when trying to brush or feed someone else.…

Social Blindness America is bombarded with problems of all natures, some are small insignificant while others are large and nationwide, and with the constant surfacing of issues is it right to simply ignore them and move on? Some people say that ignorance is bliss however in reality people who support this are just opening the door wider for more blindness to enter. If people continue to follow others blindly, close themselves off from differing views, keep their head turned from everyday struggles and ignore the options to start a change then there is no hope to diminish social blindness. America is known as the land of opportunities. In Laurence Shames’ essay, “The More Factor”, he discusses how America has an obsession with the concept of growth and having more. According to Shames, the quality of life and other values have been underdeveloped, since Americans value having more. In the context that Laurence Shames uses the term “frontier”, it does not show any contradiction, when saying that the American “frontier” culture focuses on measurable expansion, and then using the term “frontier” to describe knowledge and culture. Shames’ argument that quantity over quality is important because it conforms to the idea of people improving the American lifestyle.…

I believed that this can be attributed to being the second simulation but on reflection I believe I scored lower. However, just refreshing on my clinical skills in general did aid me in achieving a higher score than if I had been the nurse in the initial simulation. In “Noticing” I gave myself a 9 as I was unable to collect subjective data or gather information due to the uncooperative sister.…
