HISTORY OF JACOBI MEDICAL CENTER
Jacobi Medical Center, formerly known as Bronx Municipal Hospital Center was established in 1955 by the New York City department of hospitals. “The mission statement of the hospital has been to serve the Bronx community by providing high quality, cost effective healthcare, in a respectful way to all, regardless of ability to pay”. The hospital has a specialized care facilities and a teaching hospital located in the northeast part of Bronx. Jacobi Medical Center is part of New York City Health + Hospitals formerly known as The New York City Health and Hospital Corporation (HHC). It comprises of two main medical units; the acute center named Jacobi hospital and the chronic tuberculosis center, known as the Van

They show concern about the health of their patients and give them the treatment they deserve base on their ability and knowledge. The hospital also has state of the art medical equipment’s that are essential for the treatment of their patients. The use of Electronic Patients Record System helps improve the quality of care patients receive. It gives the physicians quick access to the patients records; this will help them with medical history of their patients at a glance and improving patients safety in the process. Editors, B. The wait time for patients to be seen by medical practitioners at the hospital takes a longer time than expected for a medical center as big as Jacobi. Most times patients are made to wait unnecessary, even though they need an urgent medical attention while doctors and nurses are seen walking around without doing anything and the constant growth of population around the locality where the hospital is located makes it difficult for the management to meet up with the need of its patients. (New York Hospitals Rate Poorly in Patient Safety - Consumer Reports n.d) OPPORTUNITIES The hospital is on the verge of transferring from their old software know as Quadra Med that has been in use for more than 24 years to a faster and more efficient software called EPIC. The Quadra Med has been in use in the hospital for a long time and it tends to slow down the pace of work in almost all the departments of the hospital. Recently, the vendor of the software decides to move to something greater, which will be more efficient and help them in alleviating the problems of their slow computer systems. (F.
