Jacob Riis organized a collection of photographs and with the collaboration of his newspaper editors, then he will get America's attention. The health department saw Riis publications and stepped in to better the living conditions of the less fortunate.
Social change was a hot topic during the era Riis lived in. Riis worked as a railroad worker which was a main part of the way people thought of transportation.
