It is such an empowering feeling knowing even though my part was little it was still apart of a big plan. It is also so rewarding when seeing how truly grateful the organization is for each and every volunteer. The best benefit to me is meeting all of the extraordinary men and women who have been affected by breast cancer. Thousands of people die each year from this disease and being able to help make a difference for finding the cure is one of the best feelings. Their stories are of course heartbreaking but also admirable because they don’t give up.…
I contribute to both my high school and community through volunteer work. These volunteer services include altar serving at my local Catholic church, and assisting in packaging canned goods for the less fortunate at a local food pantry. I am also an active member of the volunteering club at my high school and the American Red Cross. Generosity was one of the characteristics that I attained throughout my volunteering experience. My whole community and high school thrive into better places for others today.…
Volunteer- Franciscan Daughters of Mary For our school we are required to do 'Christian Service'. I was assigned to go to Franciscan Daughters of Mary. This is an organization that helps provide food and clothes to the homeless.…
At St. Jude day school I was a volunteer where I helped distribute the meals for the kids, give them snacks entertain the kids and clean up after. This day school is a church in neighborhood where many people use to put their kids in while they go to work. During the summer I would volunteer where there would be almost 50 kids in the summer camp. It was so chaotic at times. I accomplished gaining great friendships with many kids and teachers that I could never forget.…
Bob Marley once said, “Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.” In today’s society teenagers are expected to succeed and excel throughout their high school journey with the support of their parents, In order to gain a successful future. However, when fate decides to turn its back on you and pose challenging obstacles the opposite occurs, unless you decide to do something in order to turn it around. After moving to the United States at the age of six, and having to learn a completely new language, I realized of how capable I was as an individual.…
There are multiple reasons I'd want to serve for Americorps. My calling in life has always been to serve others. We live in a world with more "sayers" than "doers". Everything that moves me into a passionate speech, enables my physical into action. From grade school to college helping others has been a must for me .…
This summer, I worked as a JCIT at the BSAFE summer program. BSAFE is a summer program for kids from kindergarten to 5th grade, where they are taught school subjects and go on a field trip every day. A JCIT is a junior counselor-in-training, so my job was to assist the leader with the kids and clean and prepare activities for them. JCITs are closer in age to the kids, so they usually confided in us with their questions and concerns. Being a JCIT helped me gain a lot of patience and allowed me to learn to help with things even when I'm not directly asked to do so.…
Since my freshman year in high school, I have been volunteering at my local hospital, Memorial Hospital Miramar. At the hospital I volunteer mainly at the Gift Shop, assisting customers and patients with daily amenities and gifts. I have a high level of responsibility at the store because I am trusted by my supervisors to run it efficiently while they are not present. I have been doing this service for my community because I enjoy helping out others and teaching new volunteers how to run the Gift Shop…
I got the opportunity to volunteer with Busqueda. Busqueda is a retreat for teens given by teens. What we do is we have three days to demonstrate to teenagers that it is important to remember their parents and the importance of family all in everything that they do. Since helping at Busqueda, I have done everything from being in the team that cooks for everyone, cleans for everyone, leads everyone and even pretended to be living the retreat again so that I might be able to help the teens living Busqueda to get the full experience.…
This position has opened my eyes to everything. I have earned so much experience and learned so many things that I think it will help me with my school and my career in the future. What I really love about this job is that you meet different…
For years I have been Plagued with the nagging feeling to go back to school. You know the gentle prods of encouragement that only God can whisper into your soul. Weather it be a song on Christian radio, played at just the right time. Or the quiet moments of the day when the thought of returning to school brings a gentle calm to my spirit. Then I know I am to do Gods work, for his glory.…
My life has been impacted strongly by my representation of leadership, commitment to excellence, and the value I take in treating everyone with fairness and kindness. Throughout my four years at the Bethel Park High School, I became the captain of the cross country team, I was the treasurer of the Journalism Club, and I was the head of committee for the Principal Advisory Committee of Students. As a leader of these clubs and activities I was able to be a part of, I learned and valued leadership skills. I was voted the captain of the cross country team because of how I took care of the team, and made sure everyone was always okay.…
The Corporation of National Community Service found statistically that volunteering and being involved in the local government can give a job candidate 27% higher odds of finding a job rather than someone who does not volunteer. When I finish high school my many community service achievements will help my odds of getting a job because I have met my civic responsibilities. I have met my civic responsibilities by going to school board meetings, babysitting for the parents of the Parent Teacher Organization and working the PTO Fun Run, as well as during holiday season helping Toys for Tots and Salvation Army for the last 2 years. I have learned that even the small things make a difference. The importance of attending school board meetings…
For the past six summers, I have volunteered at my Church’s vacation bible school. This is where children can go to broaden their faith in an entertaining and creative way. Every time I go to help, it is a new experience. One year that I helped out was extremely memorable. I was the main leader of a second grade group with all girls.…
Have you had to do Service hours for school before? Did you enjoy it and benefit from it? Serving others with a cheerful heart honors God, is helpful to others, and can benefit you. For middle school this year, I had to do Service hours and I enjoyed serving God and others.…
