Jackson Taylor: Godfather Of Spinal Surgery

Decent Essays
Jackson Taylor, who is a 16-month old, was seriously injured in a car accident. His head was detached from his body during the accident. A vehicle he was riding in crashed into another vehicle at 70 mph. Taylor was rushed to the hospital and physicians performed a six-hour operation in order to re-attach his head.

Dr. Geoff Askin was one of the doctors who operated on Taylor. He is often referred to as the "godfather of spinal surgery." The doctors re-attached Taylor's vertebrae by using a piece of his rib and a small piece of wire.

Taylor's survival is being called a miracle. He will have to wear a halo for the next two months in order to make sure that everything stays in place. Doctors believe that Taylor will live a normal, healthy life.
