Jackson Academy Vs Puckett High School Essay

I’m sure someone has asked them self what it would be like to go to a whole new school at one point in their life, especially if they did not like their school much. I certainly had, but I most definitely not expecting to. Going from a private school like Jackson Academy to a small public school like Puckett High School was a big change, and there were many contrasts between the two schools. The three most important differences between Jackson Academy were the size, dress code, and education. Jackson Academy was very different from Puckett. It was very spaced out and not many of the students from the other divided grades socialized. Another difference was the fact that uniforms were a requirement. There was a class to help students get into college by helping with college applications, scholarships opportunities, and essays, but it was not offered until 12th grade, and before that no one usually asks what college a student will be attending. It was usually more a question of if a student was going, and if they didn’t that was certainly acceptable too. The teachers were more lenient when I goofed off and decided to not pay attention, and did not enforce the rules very

There are various reasons as to why I’m deserving of the Etna-Dixmont School Scholarship. The most prevalent reason is my family history and connection with the town of Dixmont. My father and my grandparents moved to from Massachusetts to Dixmont, Maine when he was in second grade. My grandfather bought a house on Route 9 in Dixmont, and some other land in addition to that. The Dixmont Corner Church was built in 1835, and had an active one room school house next to it that was built in 1808.…

In Kandice Sumner’s Ted Talk, How America's public schools keep kids in poverty, she passionately delivers a message about the “education debt” (Sumner, 2015) that many schools, especially those in poor neighborhoods are suffering from. Through her experience as a both a teacher and a student, she constructs an influential speech that argues that we need to help and change the school system, as to include kids of minority races and give equal opportunities to each and every student. Unlike some kids, I have lived outside of New Mexico, I have experienced different things, gone to different schools, and seen different cultures. I have seen the difference in resources, first-hand, in which some of the schools I have been to had many resources…

I want to write about the experiences that I encountered after attending Carl Junction schools, and the impact and difference it made on my life. People think all schools are the same, that it is school, there’s kids and there’s teachers, you go and sit for 8 hours and you get marked as ‘present’ regardless if you’re learning or not, and if you’re present and you don’t fail, then you go on to the next grade. But I realized something different, when things got switched up for me. I attended Carl Junction schools from 1st grade to the very end of 6th grade, and then I started Joplin in the 7th grade, not knowing anyone from this school, or really this area. When I started school at Joplin I was so nervous, I was nervous about the normal stuff, that no one would like me, I would sit by myself, or people would be mean to me.…

Courage to Speak up I have always hated high school from the day I left middle school, until my junior year of high school. For myself, it felt like being in jail; I say that because you had no freedom, you had to eat what they provided for you, had a dress code, and behave how they wanted you to. The beginning of my junior year of high school was a difficult time for myself, so I made the decision to drop out. Months had gone by, and I realized that it was a huge mistake.…
