Although Jackie was shockingly an amazing athlete, his brother Matthew help advise him into pursuing an athletic career in college. “Jackie’s first college he attended was Pasadena Junior College where he was an excellent athlete and played four sports: football, basketball, track, and baseball.” For someone to play four sports in college is really overachieving factoring that he was not only juggling school and sports, but he was also having to deal with racist fans yelling the infamous racial slur at him. He was faced with constant booing and that was a huge challenge. Another challenge Jackie faced was to not react on impulse when someone yelled at him with derogatory terms. Choosing to not react to the fans it not only made him a very smart man, but it made him a man of respect.
