Jackie had a very rough early life from neighborhood kids to rude opposing teams. Jack Roosevelt Robinson better known as “Jackie” Robinson was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia to Millie and Jerry Robinson. Soon after Jackie was born his father left to be with another woman. Quickly later Jackie’s family moved to Pasadena, California. Jackie was the youngest of five children, Edgar, Frank, Matthew, Wilma Mae, and then Jackie. Robinson graduated from John Muir Technical High School, and then went to Pasadena Junior College. After junior college Jackie was accepted into The University of California at Los Angeles, or U.C.L.A. Jackie Robinson was U.C.L.A’s first to ever achieve a letter in each sport they played! Jackie got four letters. One in basketball, track, football, and of course baseball! After Robinson retired he was devoted strictly to Civil Rights and how to stop desegregation. Jackie Robinson partnered with President Eisenhower, President Kennedy, President Johnson, and President Nixon, he was also on President Nixon’s campaign team and endorsed him into office in January of 1953. Jackie Robinson was also involved in many marches such as the Integrated schools march in 1958, and the colored employment march of 1963, both of these marches took place in Washington
