The world is filled with I am’s and I will’s, but i'm here to talk about some i'm nots. Society has painted a picturesque vibe of stereotypes that just because your this or that you get all these societal expectations.
I love the story of Jackie Robinson: A young man who aspired to be a pro ball player, and through so much persistence and commitment made his dream a reality. And that is just a summary that will never give his real struggle justice. The reason he is such an inspiration for me is because society labeled him constantly telling him he had to be all these things, and at some point he had to say “I'm Not”.
I'll never have to go through all of the insufferable prejudice and hate that he had too, and for that i'm thankful, because it would make life such an intolerable state of dread and gloom. The following is the picture that society paints of me: I'm white so i'm racist right , no i'm not, i'm a christian so i'm oppressive and a homophobe right, no i'm not, i'm a male so i'm sexist right, no i'm not, and the list goes on and on of these idiotic but sadly common misconstrued views. If you think that “Oh no one believes that” or “Oh boo hoo someone doesn't like you for something that's not true, get over it”. But it's not that simple and, yes people do actually believe these things, and it makes my goal hard to achieve because how do I get somewhere when people constantly keep pushing me a little farther away from my destination each time I try. Well two words can easily answer that question, persistence and commitment. Two words I feel that Jackie Robinson knew well. Now yes, I understand that not everyone has these beliefs but sadly the populous of these radicalists keeps on growing as time goes
