Jackie Chan Research Paper

Jackie Chan is a martial art film actor. Before he was born, his parents, Charles and Lee-lee Chan, travelled to Hong Kong, where they found a job to work for a French ambassador. His father became the ambassador’s cook and handyman (4). Jackie Chan, born in April 7, 1954, lived in Hong Kong with his father and mother. He was named Chan Kong-sang which meant “Born in Hong Kong” and was nicknamed Pao-pao, which meant cannonball, since his parents had never seen such a big baby (3-5). As a toddler, Jackie Chan would watch his mother do the chores around their little space called home. He was obnoxious yet curious child. He would go crawling around his mother when working and put soap chips in his mouth. To prevent herself from tripping, his mother would put him in a big tub full of warm water to distract him (9). He came to depend on others as everyone in the group did. But everything was falling apart (107). After a few years, the Chinese opera started dwindling that Master Yu was now softer with his disciplines. Master Yu’s school started to suffer so he often lent Jackie Chan and the others out to be extras in martial arts films as they were becoming increasingly popular (118). The opera was over and many students left the academy. Many schools closed and groups disbanded (120). Though, Jackie Chan stuck around Master Yu out of loyalty but he didn’t have anything to do anymore, so he decided to leave to find better jobs. He said goodbye to Master Yu and left (121).
