Jack Welch, the CEO of General Electrics, led GE under his leadership from 1981 to 2001. GE was found by Thomas Edison in 1878, and is now one of the world’s leading diversified industrial companies. GE’s early focus was the generation, distribution, and use of electric power, to become, and a hundred years later, in addition to its core businesses in power generation, household appliances, and lighting, the company was also engaged in businesses as diverse as aircraft engines, medical systems, and diesel locomotives. GE has been recognized and ranked as one of the “Most Admired Companies in the United States” by Fortune and Financial Times.

And his last initiative was getting into e-business. Before his retirement, he supported GE to enter the digitized world of business and compete with its other competitors in the era of technology.
I personally do agree with and support Welch’s leadership style because of his value for the following traits that a leader has. First, he has a vision and is determined to change his vision to reality through his intelligence. Second, his self-confidence and belief on his potential in regards to making GE world’s number one companies was inspiring. And last, his commitment, integrity and sociability make him one of the most successful leaders.
