The most savage act that was committed was when Jack’s tribe kills the pig and then puts the pig's head on a stick. On page 136, golding describes “Jack held up the head and jammed its soft throat down on the pointed end of the stick which pierced through into the mouth.” This quote shows that Jack is turning into the evil form of himself and he is losing himself because a normal human being would never turn into a violent, savage like creature unless the person’s mind has unraveled into a state of mind of violence and survival.…

Alissa Deanda Mrs Dewey English 1A Title Within novel The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the author, using imagery places the timing of the death of one of his characters, Simon, at an important place in the story to prove his point about mankind and their natural state of mind. Nearing the end of the novel weather is used to create the feeling of drama by making the story involve gloom and imprint that idea into a reader's mind like “great bulging towers [of clouds] that sprouted away over the island . . . The clouds were sitting on the land; they squeezed [out] tormenting heat” (151).…

Jack is a distinct example of the instinct of savagery, desire of power, and violent nature that the boys come to follow. Jack is Ralphs antithesis, or opposite in other words. Immediately, Jack retains the sense of decency and behavior that society has taught him. Susan Gulbin quoted Golding in saying "every man is part savage and that savagery is disguised or concealed only by the wall of civilization built by our ancestors" (Gulbin 87). Jack soon obsesses himself with hunting and devotes himself to the task, painting his face and giving himself over to bloodlust.…
