Those who are successful are not the ones who sit and wait for things to come to them, they are the ones who go out and get them. However, life is not always as easy as just going out and getting whatever you want with no struggle or adversity to overcome along the way. A critical part of life and becoming successful is overcoming the many obstacles and adversity that one will face on the path to greatness. Overcoming adversity is crucial; but an equally important aspect to obtaining success is having the mindset to accomplish anything. Ayn Rand, an accomplished philosopher and novelist, epitomizes said mindset with her famous quote, “The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.”…

After the war Jimmy Cross came to visit me more often, usually once a month at my home in Massachusetts. Each time he came to visit me he would always bring up new things to tell me like how he is doing in his life at home, what he does now for his free time but mostly tells me his interaction with Martha. I can remember when we went into the bar we would have conversations about the weather, sports and our thoughts…
