Jack Kill The Piglet Analysis

Decent Essays
I picked the subject of Jack and his double sides to show how he wanted to appear tough on the outside but showed compassion and didn't want to kill the piglet. I also considered using anger but I wanted a more specific theme that would personally relate to the story. I decided to use Jack because I know that hiding your face and trying to be someone else is relevant today. I chose red and black to show how Jack wanted to look tough and lead the hunting to provide meat for the other boys. The pink on the other hand is the compassion he has and how he is more gentle than he appears. Finally the blue represents the struggle between being what he wants to be and pleasing others by being like what they want him to be. I most enjoyed the freedom

Piggy is the type of person that is easily made fun of. The other boys see him as an easy target to harass and bully because of his appearance and his level of maturity. He is much more knowledgeable than everyone else on the island and he is the most like an adult. Naturally, if Piggy looked different and had a different name made up for him, he would have been the chosen leader. When the novel first started, the initial reaction to him was that he was the fat kid and he would be manipulated throughout the book.…

LOTF Essay Could modern day society function without clear rules, laws, and enforcement of those rules? In Lord Of The Flies, William Golding uses symbolism and characters to show that humans need rules and enforcement of those rules in order to function effectively. Without them, humans naturally become savages, which leads to an unsustainable and dangerous society. The diminishing power of the rules, and the results of this is shown through the fire, the power and respect towards the conch, and Jacks changing attitude.…

In the painting, Christ is illuminated by being colored in with very pale colors, but he surrounded by a myriad of colors. Each person depicted in the painting, especially those in the foreground, are each wearing clothes that have different hues, such as the Virgin is wearing blue while the Saint John is wearing red. The colors of each of their clothing are quite intense adding to the energy of the scene. There is also a mix of warm and cool tones throughout the painting, which adds the disorder of the painting. Throughout the novel, Jack’s personality and disposition have transitioned from that of a civilized English school boy to that of a person with a complex, obsessed, and notably tactical mind. His thoughts are now mainly focused on hunting, and the mask that he creates symbolizes his first major detachment from societal constraints. In chapters 2 and 3, it became evident he was beginning to forget his wish of rescue to instead focus on catching and killing a single pig, but as of now all concept of rescue has left his mind. The mask he creates allows him to express what he feels is his true self, the part of him unaffected by social normalities and the civilization he once resided in. This change, like the way is has been progressing before,…

In the movie Killer of Sheep, the director Charles Burnett juxtaposes everyday scenes to portray the lives of African Americans in the Los Angeles ghetto of Watts. The movie takes place in the mid-1970’s and focuses on a black man named Stan, who works at a slaughterhouse and struggles to provide for his family. Stan embodies the desensitization and hopelessness many African Americans felt as a result of the pervasive poverty in their communities. In particular, Burnett focuses on the issues of poor infrastructure and limited access to proper healthcare and nutrition prevalent in Watts. Being from Watts himself, Burnett uses the film as a commentary on how the struggle to maintain the rudiments of survival resulted in stunted efforts towards…

Evening was come, not with calm beauty but with the threat of violence” (Golding 150). This quote shows how Jack’s natural instinct to act violently is his identity. Because society has broken down, Jack is given the ability to do whatever he wants. Therefore, by acting violently and trying to obtain power, he shows how without society 's effect on his acts, his true identity is exposed. Similarly, Piggy shows how his identity is formed through the societal breakdown the boys experience on the…
