Milo changed in the story a lot. In the beginning he was very lonely and he had no clue what to do with himself. While in the end he was happy, lots to do, and he had the want to explore. There was three spots where I thought he changed the most in The Phantom Tollbooth. First he started to see all the wonderful colors. Then he Started to think about stuff to get out of the doldrums. Finally he wanted to save the princesses and explore the world. In this essay I will tell you 3 time Milo changed. The first time Milo changed in The Phantom Tollbooth was when Milo was driving to the tollbooth and he saw all the wonderful colors that are in the world. In his book Lord of the Flies, William Golding introduces a conflict between Jack and Ralph when Jack prioritizes hunting above all else and Ralph focuses on everyone's survival needs. William Golding is clearly trying to establish the theme that a difference in priorities within a single group often creates an imbalance affecting all of one’s surroundings. Throughout the first few chapters, Jack Merridew is portrayed as a self-centered and fierce character, especially when the subject of hunting pigs comes into play. This creates a conflict with Ralph, the appointed leader whose focus is rescue and shelter.…

The tone in the novel The Phantom Tollbooth is full of fun and great spirit. Even though there are some moments where it could be gloomy or sad, such as Tock’s background story or when they stumbled across with the “Terrible Trivium, demon of petty tasks and worthless jobs”. The main tone of the novel is fun and exciting, like when Milo directed the orchestra the author describes the colors and tone exciting: “Milo was overjoyed because they were all playing for him, and just the way they should” (Juster 129). When Milo brought back sound to “The Silent Valley” everyone was back to being talkative and busy as they were before sound was taken away from them: “The people quickly went about their busy talkative business” (Juster 162). The most…
