Jack And Algernons Compare And Contrast Essay

Cecily and Algernon both seem to be very happy with each other. But even though they are extremely happy with each other at the beginning, what will Cecily think when she starts to see that Algernon has a bad habit of spending more than what he have? My thoughts are that it will not turn out well, unlike Jack and Gwendolen relationship where they both actually know how to save money.
I believe that Jack and Gwendoline's marriage would be more on the sturdy side and Algernon and Cecily's will be more on the other side. You may wonder what the difference is when it comes to these two couples that you are reading about right now.
As you can tell Jack and Gwendoline has a lot of money and are both very sturdy when you read Scene one of the play

I have a feeling that they will be happier together with their marriage than Jack and Gwendoline because they are always talking about fun topics and also that Algernon wants to marry her because of who she is since he not once asked her about how much she makes. Unlike Algernon and Cecily, Jack and Gwendolen both seem to act a bit too proper toward each other, especially when they say they love each other like in scene one “Jack: Charming day it has been, Miss Fairfax…” Gwendoline: … whenever people talk about the weather I feel quite certain that they mean something else…” (Wild 19). I believe that Algernon and Cecily both have more in common and also the fact that they are always joking and having fun with each other even if it seems like a serious situation. They are able to joke around with each other and find a common meeting ground for the situation while Jack and Gwendolen are too serious and would probably look at it and not be able to find a common ground due to their stiffness and not being able to come to a compromise as well as Algernon and …show more content…
Though I still feel like they will one out of the two couples will not be as happy or long lasting as a marriage should be. The reasoning as to why they aren’t as good as a marriage should be is because the girls are a bit too shallow seems how they only want a man named Ernest “Gwendoline: I pity any woman who is married to a man called John” (Wild 21) and the boys untrustworthy. I man Algernon and Cecily, yes may be happier than Jack and Gwendoline but they are still too childish to take anything as serious as they should especially when it comes down to something as serious as marriage. The girls are not the only ones to blame for their relationships, not working completely either because the boys are way to untrustworthy mainly because they like to lie about who they are and also what they are doing. You know that Algernon is going to find some other way to get out of thing that he doesn’t want to do and you know that Cecily will find out and start an argument about

This paper will explore depictions of marriage in Thomas King’s novel Green Grass, Running Water and how rejections of hierarchal male-female relationships, specifically by female characters, parallel and aide rejections of cultural oppression of First Nations, establishing a new basis for equality. King’s female characters remove themselves from positions of subservience, maintaining the autonomy and equality also hoped for but oft denied in First Nation’s relations with colonizing forces. Particularly, Alberta and Latisha each experience relationships easily interpreted as representations of colonialist domination and reject traditional gendered expectations to meet their individual goals, drawing parallels to King’s revision of the accepted narrative of colonial oppression. The behaviour of King’s female characters when faced with such roles demonstrate the intimate relationship between deconstructions of sexism and colonialism, and the desire for a future in which colonialist cultural supremacy has been replaced with community and respect for identity.…

The point that you've raised about Jack and Algernon where you talk about how Jack is better suited for a higher class rather than Algernon is something I did not see, but when you pointed it out it made a lot of sense. I do believe that that point is very true because of the way the Algernon behaves around other people. He is almost behaves the complete opposite to how Jack/Earnest behaves. While Jack is being polite, and well-mannered, Algernon is making jokes of a serious situation.…

As social animals, human beings marshal themselves into social groups that construct the society. Such an act may appear to be a de minimis but forsooth, the setting that people are put into has a prominent effect on the person. In the dynamic play by Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest, the setting is more than a mere backdrop that sets the mood for the play; instead, Wilde initiates a setting that acts as a nonhuman character in the play. That is, the setting, similar to the characters in the play in its essentiality, affects the characters and their actions in a plethora of ways. The effect of the setting in the play is so puissant that if these characters were to be put in a different setting and say their lines at a different…
