The Coushatta’s tribe just liked many others hired Jack Abramoff to help with rising debt and to gain political power among state legislators. He insisted on over charging his clients steep prices that allowed him to pocket millions of dollars. The money the tribe thought was going to help them, was really being shuttled to Capitol Hill. Some of the tribe’s currency was donated to campaign funds for thirty three percent of the total members of the House of Representatives. Abramoff also used funds to buy lavish gifts for representatives such as super bowl tickets, golf trips, and fancy dinners. All in return for political favors. The indictment of Jack Abramoff led to not only his personal demise but also the conviction of twenty one others including Republican Representative Bob Ney.
