Jabberwocky poem
In the far off village in wonderland a boiling hot, slimy creature, the Jabberwocky, had began to strike terror throughout the land. Even the borogrove birds and the curious pigs shook in fear and hid amongst the trees. The town mayor appealed to the people for this awful, heinous creature.

As the sun set Elias walked down his cold, rocky drive-way like he did everyday, but today his father at the front door with a sad face. Elias quickened his pace, frightened by the lace in the usual friendly face that accompanied his arrival home. “beware the Jabberwocky, my son, it has claws that grab, the teeth that snatch! There are many scary things out there in wonderland, but none like the jabberwocky. Avoid the jubjub bird and the angry bandersnatch, but take no chance with the Jabberwocky.” Elias knew today wasn't just going to be like any other, to him this wasn't a warning, this was a mission.

It was as dark as he arrived and the air felt heavy as he stepped over the mountains of leaves and the huge logs laying across the ground. There was very few leaves on the trees and the ones that were there hung like the moon. There was confusing directions, signs and many footprints, but none from humans. It was obvious none had dare stepped in these woods before. Unclear of his future and plans, Elias took a rest by one of the many tumtum trees. Could he do it? Why did he choose to do this? So many things came to mind and he was unsure of his next moves. However, not to long, after loud screeches echoed through the forest. Without thought, he pulled out his sword and he stood fiercely, looking through a small gap of trees, to see the Jabberwocky stretching out its dark leathery wings. It hovered over the trees it ripped all the leaves off the trees, clearing the battle

I have a vivid memory of, after a long hike on an old logging road, reaching Headwaters forest. On my left the vast hillside was clear cut, a few saplings and much flowering brush. On my right was a magnificent forest, thick and dark, never touched by the hand of man. I walked over centuries of accumulated fallen branches and found a meditative spot in a tree hollowed out by lightning. There I listened to the sound of condensed dew dripping from branches hundreds of feet above me.…

Crawling stealthily, my smooth skin dragged along the autumnal leaves and dirt. My wiry legs easily manoeuvred around the trees and obstacles. It was easy to believe this track was seldom-used. When I first read each of these poem I notice a very interesting difference between the two. While both of the poems are about relationships the major difference between the two are the specific type of relationship they each portray. In Your Hands by Gevorg Emin the relationship Gevorg portrays is a very loving and passionate one between the two people. While in The Clothespin by Rhonda Bower the feeling we get about the relationship is that the two people don’t really love each other and force each other to stay together. The way these two poems contrast each other is also indicative of how many real life relationship between people are.…

Hi Harvinder! Your descriptions for your two poetic forms were very informative and really gave me a sense on how to create both a couplet and a clerihew. I also like how you included the Harry Potter poem example in your explanation of how form affects theme. That was a smart choice because it allowed for better understanding. I really enjoyed your humorous approach to your cherihew poem and your details and images in your couplet.…

In the story “How to Tame a Wild Tongue” is important to most of us living because people that are Hispanic or Latino tend to have an accent. If people tend to not talk English correctly without an accent they would likely start laughing. One of the many points in the story is linguistic terrorism, which meant for her that if a Spanish language is different from the other doesn’t mean that one is less authentic. It means that different people had different ways of talking to each other like the word “Vato” and such, more that only some Spanish people would understand because they switch it a bit from the authentic one.…

My theme is the truth is easy when confronted but difficult to confront. What I mean is the truth is hard to confront from a glance because many of us are afraid of our image, loyalty, or pride. We all have that certain obstacle to face and that becomes the beginning of the rollercoaster ride. After we accept the truth, the ride becomes fluid but at some point there will be another challenge waiting to be climbed and overcome. The truth after being confronted will become clearer and reassures the path you have taken.…
