The media, through a variety of outlets, has destroyed the national identity. Only concerned with money, the media has used outrageous stereotypes and ‘humour’ to degrade and ruin the image Australia previously upheld. We are commonly portrayed as bullies, ill-mannered, violent and as bad influences on our own children and we can give a huge thanks to the media for that.

With the frequent inclusion of casual racism and degrading comments, Ja’mie Private School Girl also portrays girls as stereotypical and unsupportive. “Fix your acne. And don’t be Asian. Seriously.” The sanctimonious satirical show is a genre built on making a fool out of a specific group of people; however, the inaccurate depictions are morphing into our national identity. “This great land of ours abounds. Where harmony and peace are found,” so tell me why we are still at war with the media, so, “with courage let us all combine, to advance Australia fair,” and regain the identity the media
