JV Soccer Team: Team Analysis

Decent Essays
I developed an interest in leadership when I was chosen by my JV Soccer coach, Dan Dufour, to be a captain for my team in my sophomore year in high school. I thoroughly enjoyed being the middle man between my dedicated coach and my hardworking team of girls. The experience I gained from those couple of months as captain really helped me gain confidence in myself and my abilities to lead. When I came back the following year as a Junior on the Jv team, my coach pulled me aside told me how important my leadership on the field would be that year. I took this opportunity very seriously and really looked after my team. I believe my two years as a captain for my JV soccer team really helped me develop an interest in leadership

As a sophomore, I had to opportunity to get lots of playing time in varsity games and being a young player on the team, getting big playing time, I felt I had to take the leadership role in my sophomore class. Now that I am a senior on the team, I feel more of that weight on my shoulders. Being on the court most of the time, I feel it’s part of my duty, on and off the court, to be a leader for the girls. Keeping them serious in practice to just being someone they look up to when they need guidance, I feel those situations is what really taught me the leadership qualities. Another time that I have taken a leadership role is when our sideline cheer team had a booth at the Water Festival. I took the morning shift and when I got there I had all of the materials but only me and my coach had shown up and she still had to head back to the school to get the things we were selling. So while she went and got the stuff I stayed at the booth and lead it by myself until my teammates came and helped. I decided to be a leader in this situation because I knew that it was what I had to do to help my coach out so that she could get her stuff done. I believe that by leading the booth for a few hours I helped my coach accomplish what she had to do for the day and helped my team by sitting at the booth fundraising to help pay for some of our debts.…

This year has been really special to me because of the amazing opportunity to participate in the Varsity Athletics program. Not only did I receive an overwhelming amount of support and welcoming, but also have learned very valuable lessons from both from my teammates and coaching staff. I’ve better developed many character traits such as honesty and integrity that wouldn’t have been accomplished any other way. These traits are necessary in creating a team bond as it enables the team to support each other even through mistakes, everyone makes them and by realizing these mistakes will only help us develop more positively as individuals it will make it easier then trying to use blame to cover up for these mistakes. This team has also showed me…

To start the most meaningful thing that we did in this class was the Leadership Journey presentation. It seemed like so long ago presenting them, but something I will not forget about this class. One of the reasons it was so memorable was because we got out of our comfort zone and could talk about some private things with people we do not know very well. Me going first for the presentations was also memorable for this project. I felt as if I was able to set the way for people in the class because of how I expressed myself.…

Organizations So far I have participated in three clubs: Band (6-9th grade), NJHS (National Juniors Honors Society—8th grade) and now a dance organization at my school called Skillz Squad. Furthermore in band, the only meetings we did have were “convocations” for sectionals in order to prepare for UIL (University Interscholastic League) competitions and marching band last year at my current high school because we had a ridiculous passion to beat everybody and anybody in our district in terms of surpassing the other school’s greatness with their fearsome playing skills and fundamentals. In other words, we only had our summits specifically for (late) practices and improvements in our music abilities.…
