JB Hi-Fi Limited is a retail chain consumer electronics company based in Australia and New Zealand. According to IBIS World 2016, JB Hi-Fi has 24.7% market share in consumer electronics market in Australia and New Zealand, making it the largest shareholder in the market.
JB Hi-Fi Limited deals in selling brown goods (computers, tablets, home entertainment appliances, TV’s, games and consoles, movies and shows, cameras, phones, ipod’s, fitness electronics, headphones and DJ equipment’s, musical instruments, car audios and GPS devices) and white goods ( freezers, fridges, kitchen appliances, laundry machines, floor cleaners) to the Australian and New Zealand consumers. JB Hi-Fi has systems in place to record and report it’s greenhouse gas emission and energy consumptions. In the year 2015, JB Hi-Fi received a score of 73% which is consistent with the 2014 results. Results for FY 2016 are awaited. o Australian Packing Covenant (APC): APC is a voluntary program between the Government and the industry to monitor the environment consequences of packing are reduced and measured. According to JB Hi-Fi’s action plan 2010 - 2015, submitted to ACP and it’s review by ACP in 2015, JB Hi-Fi received a score of 3 out of 5 against their action plan. o Mobile Phone recycling and re-use: Mobile muster is an initiative undertaken by the Australian Mobile Telecommunication Association (AMTA) to facilitate mobile phone recycling. During the FY 2016, JB Hi-Fi ran a mobile phone trade program to reduce the number of mobile phones entering landfills. o Cartridges 4 Planet Ark: It’s a JB Hi-Fi initiative, enabling customers to drop worn out printer cartridges at any JB Hi-Fi store to be returned to cartridges manufacturer thereby reducing the number of cartridges entering …show more content…
It encourages customers to donate any amount of money to be equally distributed among JB Hi-Fi’s charity partners. In FY 2016, over $50,000 was collected and distributed among charity partners.
• Economic sustainability: measures the continuous ability of JB Hi-Fi to operate at it’s current level of economic production. The company has implemented numerous initiatives to achieve it as mentioned below: o Continuous development and improvement of the existing JB Hi-FI online website, with advanced UX/UI to boost sales o Continuous expansion of JB Hi-Fi Solutions and expand footprints in further market segments. o Continuous expansion and roll out of new stores across Australia and New Zealand. o Improved supply chain and logistics to support JB Hi-Fi’s expansion strategies.
