“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.” (Tolkien 1). This is one of the most iconic lines that J.R.R. Tolkien ever wrote. This is one of the lines that shows most of his life’s events and accomplishments. Mr. Tolkien was able to create an entire world, together with the events of an extraordinary life lived, influenced it more than most people realizes. He was born in a land thought foreign at the time. He served in one of the most brutal and barbaric wars in world history. Then he came back from the brink of destruction, to not only learn and teach literature; but to also create some of the most famous pieces of literary works in the history of modern literature.
