There is still a difference and no one can deny it. There is still difference that people are hiding. They don’t want to make it clear and make us think that it is over; when we know it is still happening. There is still a big inequality in America between blacks and whites. Starting from years and years behind until today. From the black liberation to “Equality in America”, from school segregation to offering same rights of education for black and white students. They all expect us to reach our goals, to succeed in life and to be an effective example of for other people. It has a great variety of meanings. For some people America is the land of opportunities, where everything can be possible; the land of success and happiness. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to what is the American dream. People say it is to give your children a better life, get a successful career, do it better than what your parents did, have your own house, in some cases be famous and successful. J. M. Beach’s “The American Dream: A Short History of an Idea that Shaped a Nation” mentions the conservative American dream and it’s meaning. “The myth perpetuated by the conservative American Dream was a land of opportunity ripe for the talented few who could seize and exploit that opportunity, however, the masses of impoverished “rubbish” lived in the shadow of Providence”.
