Although Mr. Johnson, as the CEO of J.C. Penney, does have some interesting ideas, some seeming to correspond with Michael Porter’s traits of a workable and successful strategy, however lacking in some areas (Kinicki & Williams, 2012).

Relevant ties between the different departments and the Town Center concept exist, for example, back to school clothes and back to school haircuts, then again, I wonder how well he knows who his core customer is, and if this will be considered of value to that group (Kinicki & Williams, 2012). In attempting to find synergies, some of the positions appear to conflict, as in attempting to appeal to a broad customer base, however choosing services that most likely would be used by a narrower demographic.
