Ivan Gullien, who was discharging his duties as a Marketing Manager at General Mills Canada Corporation, was confronted with the crucial task of making a progressive strategy in order to ameliorate the commercial performance of Pillsbury’s refrigerated baked goods (RBG). The business problem associated with refrigerated baked goods was that there was no progression in the volume of these products between the era of 2004 and 2006 as well as the sales of these refrigerated baked goods had tumbled to the lowest sales volume, 24%, in the last five years. The refrigerated cookies have a share of 62% in the overall sales volume of refrigerated baked goods and also these refrigerated cookies provide more than 75% of the total profit in this category of products.

The manager of the consumer insights of refrigerated baked goods, Lou Pasato recommended that if they desire to augment the apprehension which they acquired from consumption and inclination approach then they should organize a qualitative research if they want to accomplish a better knowledge about perceptions of consumers regarding the product quality of Pillsbury’s refrigerated cookies. The consumer insight team of refrigerated baked goods commanded four appointments each of two hours at the consumers’ homes. Two of the four visits were at the homes of lapsed consumers and the other two appointments were at the place of brand champion.
