Screentime For Teens Should Not Be Limited Two writers, Chris Bergman author of “Don’t Limit Your Teen’s Screen Time”, and Jeffery Green author of “6 Negative Effects Of Too Much Screen Time For Kids”, argue about children’s screentime. Children’s screentime shouldn’t be limited, because the child’s parents can be emailing twenty-four seven, but the child can’t play video games, so there is no fairness, children can build relationships with other juveniles online, and children can develop careers in programing or digital media. Parents who limit their child’s screen time aren’t being fair to their children.…

Furthermore, television has a harmful impact on our nation’s youth by promoting violence, sexual content, and foul language. Kids who absorb a lot of media are less likely to do well in school, be adjusted socially, and are more likely to be overweight than kids who are low users of media. Parents need to take control, and limit their kids screen viewing time ever day. Parents also need to make sure that the shows they are showing their kids are preselected, sensible shows. The fight to cut back on social media will be a tough one, but in the end it is worth the…

Screen time addiction, or screen obsession, is a vexed subject as the majority of parents and society view it as a problem, while rest feel that it is not a huge concern. Some feel the need for people to crack down on screen addiction because they compare the U.S to countries like South Korea or China where there already is an epidemic on screen usage. Also, screen time doesn’t just cover the internet, but much more, ranging from phone usage to video games, and just about anything that allows teens to be glued to a screen. Nearly all teens in the U.S own a smartphone, which is one of the biggest enablers of screen addiction. Distinguishing Between Necessity and Virtue As a Latin student, I am no stranger to mythological tales. These tales are rather formulaic, with brawny heroes and devious villains engaging in wickedly intense battles, divine figures providing aid to men and women on quests for victory against the unknown, and mystical creatures exercising their powers over heroes to detract from their ultimate goal. The myths I have encountered during my classical education demonstrate countless desirable values including bravery, cleverness, and devotion. Heroes such as Perseus indicate that well-intentioned people are met with successful conclusions. Perseus was a kind, courageous young man who risked death to defend his mother.…

Children are getting relieved of their childhoods and being moved into the generation of screens. They are no longer forced outside to have fun, they now play on “ video games, cellphones, Wii games, iPods and TV’s” where little physical activity is needed (Mesmerized by Screens). The funny thing is, that the parents of these children fail to realize that this is happening. Their children are being deprived of fun and their childhoods would now consist of “an agglomeration of screens, rather than being given over to free play” (Mesmerized by Screens). Children should have the freedom to play outside and not have to worry about a television show or a game on their Ipad, that is why we should limit the amount of internet access and free them from being trapped behind a…
