About 50% of teen drivers have admitted to texting while driving. The average amount of time it takes for a person to send a text is about 4.6 seconds (Arrive Alive). This is just enough time for the car in front of you to come to a complete stop and for you to crash into the back of their vehicle. In most places in Missouri, you must be 21 years or older to text and drive. This law was made to prevent teens from getting into car accidents but Lake St. Louis has banned anyone form texting and driving in city limits.
