Overview-
Itchy eyelids can occur from any situation that inflames, irritates or infects our eyelid. Infections, allergies, and even deficiency of sleep can reason your eyelids to itch. Itchy eyelids are usually related with other symptoms like swelling, redness, a realistic feeling in the eye, irritation, bumps or lumps, improved tear development, or discharge. Allergies are the most common reason of itchy eyelids. An allergy that impacts your eyelid may be native, like an allergic reaction that occurs due to the eye makeup, or more general, like hay fever. Allergies that includes the membrane which lies the inside your eyelids and which covers the whites of the eyes are known as allergic conjunctivitis.

One over the counter eye drop called Zaditor, provides relieves from symptoms for up to 12 hours with only one dose. In worst cases, you can consult your specialist about using steroid eye drops to reduce the pain.
Prevention-
Avoiding itchy eyes produced by allergies is easy which is to avoid allergen. If avoiding the allergen is difficult, it is better to consult with your eye specialist about preventing itchy eye by using eye drops, decongestants and oral antihistamines.
Call your eye specialist habitually to lookout for rising eye situations like blepharitis that may cause itchy eyes. When working with the chemicals, use safety eyewear like goggles.
If you feel that you are allergic to your contact lens solution, consult with your eye specialist about your problem.
• Dust you home regularly to reduce occurrence of dust particles.
• Keep your windows close to reduce outer allergens.
• Try to keep your pets out of reach of your bedrooms or areas you spend your majority of time.
• Keep your air conditioner on to reduce inner allergens, and keep the air filters and air ducts
