I just got out of detention AGIAN! This time it was for pulling the teachers chair out when she was just about to get settled into her desk, and sit down. It was hysterical when she sat only to find she was sitting on the cold concrete floor of the school. The whole class filled with laughter and praise because no one liked her. She was the meanest teacher in the school because she would give us double the homework and half the time to do it. I think it might have been the best two minutes of my life, but it ended pretty quickly because she sent me straight to the principal’s office for a detention, like usual.
Anyways today Liz, “my baby-sitter” is picking me up today and walking me home again. I really don’t need one. I’m in the sixth grade for goodness sake and my sister Suzie is in second grade. I think we could manage just fine on our own, however my mother disagreed, so now Liz walks us home every day and stays there a few hours until my parents get

It clearly was not enough because the rain was coming down so heavily I could practically go swimming in the puddles, I’m not even kidding. On our walk back over the river I went to lean over the railing looking down at the river partly because I wanted to drive Liz crazy and also because I wanted to see if what that green blob was floating down the river... turns out it was just a green picnic table but I thought that it was kind of strange.
I just finished walking Daisy our dog. I can’t believe it was raining even harder, and now I bet it wouldn’t be that bad if I still lived in the city. I wish we still lived there. I hate living in a small town, nobody locks there door, I mean just because you know everybody doesn’t mean there still can’t be burglars. Anyways why complain when there is nothing you can do about it.
I’m going to go have some hot chocolate and Oreos and tease Liz about her crush on Donny Davis. Bye for

Italian-American Assessment Americans typically use the famous rhyme “In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue” in order to remember when and by whom the United States was founded. However, people of Italian descent often look at this saying with a sense of pride due to the fact that the well-known explorer, Christopher Columbus, was Italian. Additionally, the name America stems from yet another Italian voyager, Amerigo Vespucci (Spector, 2013, p. 331). This sense of Italian pride and identity in the United States led the immigrants to travel to this country when the issue of poverty arose in their home nation. According to Spector (2013), the migration of over 5 million Italians struck sporadically between the years of 1820 and 1990 (p. 331).…

Italian culture and society underwent significant changes in the sixth century. Unlike Byzantium, which continued as a clear heir of the Roman Empire, conflicting influences on Italian life altered the imperial culture of the Italian region. Although the Gauls did absorb aspects of Roman imperial culture, such as the style of government and material and luxurious lifestyle, Gallic society remained fundamentally different from that of the Romans. The increased focus on monasticism, due to Italy functioning as a religious powerhouse, also altered the Roman influence on the region. It is a complicated question, determining if 6th century Italy was an heir to the Roman Empire or the start of a new cultural beginning, however, I will argue that…

The history of Italian Americans is quite storied; we, as Italian Americans, have had a powerful impact on the development and augmentation of America as a whole. From the arts to the Supreme Court, we have made an indelible mark, especially on the culture of America. When our relatives made their way to the United States, they came with hope: a powerful catalyst for change. These immigrants hoped to not only to have a prosperous life for themselves, but also for their children to thrive in the land of opportunity. Through hard work and determination, many Italian Americans migrated from densely packed, segregated ghettos to suburban America while retaining their rich culture and a strong sense of family.…

Thanks to shows like Jersey Shore, the Italian culture as a whole is completely misinterpreted. When I visited my cousin in Rome, I was amazed at how inaccurate that show’s representation of Italians really was and how different the Italian culture was compared to what I grew up thinking and experiencing with my own family. My own experience when I visited Italy inspired me to research and discuss the differences between each country and how they represent the Italian culture. Food is one of the most important aspects of both cultures.…

Ask any individual where they desire to travel, and they will often vocalize a location that diverges from their normalized culture. This occurs because humans retain a natural curiosity – to explore the unfamiliar. While diverse cultures may appear to retain opposing values, traditions, and beliefs, every culture preserves an innate purpose or lesson that can subsist valuable. Personally, I would love to travel to Italy, not only to experience the landscape, but also to perceive how the overall Italian culture contrasts to my European culture. When I speak of the Italian culture, I am reflecting on the overall values, beliefs, and traditions of the Italians, rather than a direct group or location within Italy.…

I think I had gotten about two pages done and I was so proud of myself. Then my 7th grade teacher Mrs. Pritchett happened to see the two pages I had written under my text book after she had told us to put up all our paper and notebooks off our desk. I had been too excited about my story that I could not put it up. When she passed my desk, she took my story and seconds after looking it over, she decided to read it to the entire class. The entire class laughed and made fun of me about it for weeks.…
