Florence, Venice and Genoa were the three most successful city-states during the Renaissance period. The Renaissance was a rebirth that occurred throughout most of Europe. However , the changes that we associate with the Renaissance first transpired in the city-state of Florence. The city’s strategic location, climate and leadership all made Florence a model of the Renaissance culture. These factors are what led me to my decision, that Florence was the most influential and powerful city-state.
The city’s location was a key aspect for the access of agricultural products and various resources. Due to Florence’s nearby ports, it made it possible for resources and items like jewels, fabrics and spices to be reached.
