Thanks to shows like Jersey Shore, the Italian culture as a whole is completely misinterpreted. When I visited my cousin in Rome, I was amazed at how inaccurate that show’s representation of Italians really was and how different the Italian culture was compared to what I grew up thinking and experiencing with my own family. My own experience when I visited Italy inspired me to research and discuss the differences between each country and how they represent the Italian culture.
Food is one of the most important aspects of both cultures. However, an American breakfast is not the same thing as an Italian breakfast. Americans are used to the typical bacon, eggs and toast with a gigantic coffee combination. Italians are not too big on the "most

The MTV show Jersey Shore is not an accurate representation of Most Italian Americans are always proud to tell you just how Italian they are, whether it is wearing apparel that says “Italia” or talking about their grandma’s authentic Italian meals. Anything with the Italian flag on it is automatically needed to show pride in their heritage. As it turns out, Italians are not like Italian-Americans at all. Italians are not as enthusiastic about waving their flag everywhere since that is what they have always been used to. They don’t feel the need to brag about being Italian because they already associate with other Italians. Since ancient times, they have been divided by region, as each part of the country has had its own distinct culture. Therefore, if anything, they would brag about how their specific region has their own cultural differences. Historically, each region has spoken a completely different version of Italian, to the point where differences in accent are noticeable from town to town, let alone from Milan to Naples. (Gardaphe, 2004). When Italians immigrated to America, a new and foreign land, they lucidly came together as one. It was only once they had arrived that Italians gained this sense of pride and identity. Those from Sicily, Lazio and Tuscany, who would likely never have seen eye-to-eye in Italy, would now be brought together in America. Over many years, this developed into
