It was a cold wintery day in the midst of November in 1997. The excitement, the chaos, and the nervousness all because of me happened about eighteen years ago when my parents, Katie and Karl Margarida, brought me home to welcome me to a new household and new environment in a small town called Jasper, Indiana. Many things happened on November 17, 1997, including my birthday, 70 people died in an attack at the Egyptian Temple, and women and African Americans were freed in Iran.
My parent’s names are Katie and Karl Margarida. My mom was 28 years old when she had me and my dad was 30 years old. I have one older sister named Kelsie. Kelsie is seven years older than me. So, right now she is 25 years old and I am 18 years old. Obviously, when

on November 17, 1997. I was born in Jasper, Indiana at Jasper Memorial Hospital. I weighed seven pounds and eight ounces. I was twenty inches long. My mom was in labor with me for about 6 hours on that day. My parents did not want to find out my sex; they wanted to be surprised the day of. But, I know that they both were secretly hoping for a boy, especially my dad. (Margarida) My parents used to constantly joke with me and say they wanted a boy. We would always listen to the song “All-American Girl” by Carrie Underwood and they would tell me this is my song because she talks about how they wanted a male and the sex ended up being female. My dad wanted a boy because he loves to be outdoors and loves to go fishing and hunting, so he wanted someone to do that with him. (Margarida) But it turns out with being a female you can still do that with your dad!
On November 17, 1997 it not only was my birthday, but it was also 360,000 other people’s birthday’s as well. But, not only were people born on that day, many people died as well. Approximately 151,600 people died in just one day. Just in Luxor, Egypt 70 people died in an attack at the Egyptian Temple. The Luxor Massacre happened on November 17, 1997. Most of the people that were killed in the attack were tourists and only about ten of them were civilians. (Jehl) The temple, where the attacks happened, was 3,400 years old. Gun shots and gun fires were going off for three hours straight.
