It Is Ok To Lie

It is ok to lie to someone, if the intention of the lie is to protect that person. I believe this statement can be true in most cases, unless the person who’s getting helped doesn’t want their helper to deal with a big punishment. Say a person makes a mistake at their job, and their friend lies to cover for them. The person would be okay if their if their friend managed to keep their job, but would feel guilty if their friend was fired. Thus, it is sometimes better for people not to lie in some cases, for both the one who wants to help and the person who would get help. When Amir tried to make Hassan go away by making it seem like Hassan stole from him, Hassan lied and said he did steal it to protect Amir from having to tell Baba what happened with Assef raping Hassan in the alleyway. I believe this is true, as we see it around a lot lately. Many times rich people utilize their vast wealth and resources to get them out of situations that would cost them in the economic, social, and/or political world. For example, people still are denying global warming, even as many scientists have proven that it is real and dangerous, with many of those who deny it being rich people who are big in the political world. In the book, Amir uses his wealth and class to get into Afghanistan, get a fake beard, and meet with a Taliban member who later turns out to be Assef. After brawling with Assef, he uses his money to get medical treatment from a hospital. Amir agrees with this mostly, as he used it to get Sohrab, but also disagrees with it due to how he found out that Hassan was his brother. His actions are Justified, as he did feel that way for a good reason. A person’s past stays with her/him/them always; it is not possible to ever really leave one’s past
