2) I absolutely agree with the lifetime limit on the program. The government cannot keep providing assistance forever. Taxpayers cannot continue to be subjected to providing the funds for this either. Additionally, our country began the dream that if you work hard you will go further. It was not based on the premise that the government will bail you out. Since we have put something in place that does technically bail you out, it cannot be forever! You cant make anyone make those decisions and shouldn’t. That is the advantage of being an American. Look at Oprah. She is someone who faced a lot of objectives. In short, she grew up poor and made it to the top on her own. She didn’t ask for help. She didn’t have the wealthy securing a safety net for her. She chooses to give now because she wants to but the word obligation means mandate and nobody should be mandated to do anything. The American dream is achievable by all and sometimes you “ need to pick yourself up by the bot straps” and make it happen. Life is tough and it is certainly not always fair, but that is life. As far as desperately poor people in other countries…. We have to take care of our own the best way we can. Sometimes, as much as it hurts, we can’t cure or be a cure for other countries
