The first quadrant of the book “Island of the Blue Dolphins”, by Scott O’Dell, tells us about a girl named Karana and how she jumps off a ship to go back to her brother. Some of the most important events happen in the first quadrant. First, the Aleuts arrive at the island so they can hunt for sea otter. Secondly The Aleuts are not willing to share the fair share that they were supposed to share so the indians get in a battle with the Aleuts and Karana’s dad (Chief Chowig) dies. After that, a ship full of white men come to the island and take some of the indians to a safe island.
