Islamic Management Case Study

Islamic Management aspires to show how to be effective and efficiently get the work done through others to meet welfare; materially and socially, according to the principles in the Holy Quran and Hadith. The principles behave as a dividing line of the things that God permits or forbids the managers and employees to do in the workplace. In fact, an acknowledgement occurs that Islamic Management is not a value-free, but instead it is a value-loaded (Rice, 1999), which correlates to the work ethics corresponding to the principles in the Holy Quran and Hadith. This essay will first show the principles and style of Islamic Management, and then the extent to which those principles and style of management can contribute to the implementation of the Islamic Work Ethics.
Alam (cited in Rahman and Mohiuddin, 2006) defines Islamic Management as a management which uses Islamic Aqidah and Sharia as the determiners of someone’s behaviour. He says that Islamic management follows the principles of Islam in the Holy Quran and Hadith to meet the goals of the organisation through group efforts of the organisational members.
Similar to Islamic Management, Muslims acquire their ethical values from the lessons in the Quran and the Sunnah. In

To begin with, Nya is an Arabic word that means intention. In Islam, everything that we do should have a clear reason. The Prophet Muhammad SAW said: “Actions are recorded according to intention and a person will be rewarded or punished accordingly”. It means that a manager cannot punish his employees for something they did not intend to do, vice versa. The second element is Taqwa, which means forever mindful of the Almighty God. When filled with Taqwa, people will refrain from behaving unjustly. It leads to the staunchness because people are devoted to God, and so will follow the principle taught in the Quran and the
