On September 11th, 2001, one of the biggest terrorism attacks in America occurred. Almost all people in America know that the people who were responsible for this horrific act of terrorism came from the Islam religion, and some people can’t seem to forget it. Any time a muslim is arrested or accused of doing something illegal, people wrongfully assume that they are trying to bomb our country or perform an act of terrorism. However, people aren’t so quick to label white people as a terrorist. Often times the news reports about the attacks that white people do, dance around the word terrorist. Sometimes they even have the audacity to defend the terrorist with the petty excuse of them having a mental health deficiency. Terrorism is an act that …show more content…
an article by author Morgan Lee(2014) states that one the president of a KKK group in virginia by the name of Frank Ancona believes that they are a christian organization and even had the audacity to say that the KKK doesn 't hate people for their race Lee,M.,(2014). However nearly every public act the KKK has committed has shown immense amounts of racism and violence. I was informed of another act of terrorism by someone not of the Islamic religion by an article written by Alex Henderson The massacre occurred on August 5, 2012. It was a peaceful Sunday in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, Some people of the Sikh faith were gathered in their place of worship, when suddenly a gunman burst through the door and starts firing. That man was named Michael Page, a white supremacist and veteran. This man was blatantly killing people because he believed that he was killing Muslims, but he ended up killing people of the Sikh religion. Even though people of the two religions look quite similar, the religions they practice are completely different. Dr. George Tiller was also murdered for his beliefs, he was a doctor that performed abortions late in pregnancy. He was attending Church on a sunday and was shot while passing out the church bulletin. His Murderer was a man by the name of Scott Roeder, a christian rights activist. Even though Dr. Tiller was …show more content…
Even though one of the worst attacks in America occurred due to Muslims, a lot of other attacks have happened due to other religions and or stands on certain topics. I think the world should become equal and understand that all Muslims aren’t terrorist.

Many Muslims received beatings, derogatory names, and dirty looks because of 9/11. One event that occured were Muslim hate crimes. For example, in JFK airport a traveler beat an innocent muslim man. Reporter Stephanie Gallman wrote, “A traveler is accused of going on a racist tirade at John F. Kennedy Airport, yelling threatening slurs and kicking a Muslim Delta employee in the leg” (Gallman). This quote illustrates how people associate Muslims with radical Islamist terrorist groups.…

Unfortunately, American Muslims suffer from racial profiling due to the compared racial group responsible for the attack. Villemez states, “According to the FBI, 28 hate crimes committee in 2000 were found to be anti-Islamic. In 2001, that number jumped to 481, and it remained above 100 in subsequent years” (1). Not only do these innocents face…

Again, Khan uses bias by spin, when he says that Hicks’ Facebook page suggests that he is a new atheist, and probably had a particular hatred towards Islam (P.5). There was no actual proof saying that Hicks had anything particular against muslims. Finally, Khan showed bias by omission when he failed to mention that Hicks was obsessed with all of his neighbor’s parties, and parking patterns (Katz, P. 11). The bias used in this article only tells one side of the…

“Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the number of hate crimes directed against Arab Americans, Muslims, and Sikhs escalated dramatically”(Peterson,1). Americans were so greatly struck with grief of this consumingly tragic event that the only question people had was why and who would do this. Responsibility of the terrorist attack was placed on an extremist group Al Qaeda who were Muslim, but many Americans took out their aggression and frustrations toward their race as a whole. Consequently, blaming a person or a group for a tragic situation or…

Bacon says that “everyone has a cave or den of his own” that “refracts and discolors the light of nature, owing either to his own proper and particular nature; or to his education and conversation with others.” This idol is the barrier to human knowledge caused by biases such as the media, racism, sexism, islamophobia and etc. This occurs when false realities are cultivated and spread, so that they are no longer questioned; it is automatically accepted. No one would question whether a Muslim dressed in a turban would be capable of mass terrorism, but if a young Caucasian American male was in the same situation, the outcome and speculation would be different. He could be assumed just to have psychological issues and that this was just the act of one person and not all Caucasians.…

This is something that everyone in the United States accepts, except the government. The government, politically, is unwilling to acknowledge the true threat of terrorists and terrorism because doing so would both acknowledge a failure or weakness in combatting the issue and is also perceived to be a judgmental label that could alienate our enemies. For example, instead of calling the Oklahoma beheading ‘terrorism,’ which many commentators believe this event to be, the government instead refers to this as ‘workplace violence.’ Rick Perry said “[a]t some point in time, I think the [Obama] administration does have to address this as what it appears to many people that it is: an act of violence that is associated with terrorism.” Another example would be the Fort Hood shooting in 2009 in which Nidal Malik Hasan, former army psychiatrist, walked into a public space and shot and wounded many US soldiers.…

There are a remarkable amount of hate groups in today’s society. A hate group is an organized group or movement that advocates hostility or hatred toward members of a certain race, gender, ethnicity, social class, religion, and so on. The Ku Klux Klan, which is one of America’s oldest and more feared hate groups, still exists today. The Ku Klux Klan’s primary goal is to promote a movement towards racial segregation and white supremacy. “Originally, the KKK focused on being anti-African American, but that has changed.…

Throughout history, the United States of America has been involved in numerous conflicts. These conflicts have involved cultures all over the world and as a result we often see prejudice in our own country. This prejudice is often directed towards the citizens that have cultural ties to the perceived enemy. Having such a diverse culture within the U.S. is considered to be a good thing, but during times of war it can trigger harsh and negative treatment towards individuals that are looked at as “them”. There have been countless times where America has mistreated its own citizens because they were thought to be in correlation with the enemy.…

With only a small percentage of muslims participating in extremist groups and attacks there is no justification for the backlash brought upon the muslim community. Islamophobia only brings about hostility and assults, both physically and verbally, towards muslims. The number of hate crimes towards muslims has increased drastically and little to nothing has been done to stop these acts. Hate crimes against muslim include accusing someone of being a terrorist because they are muslims or blaming them for terrorist attack, defacing women wearing hijabs or other traditional head coverage and defacing mosques or muslim graves. Many of the hate crimes perpetrated against Muslims in the United States have been violent.…

Hate crimes occur all over the United States all the time, and whether it be because of race, sexual preference, or religion, they always make an impact on society. For example, on September 15, 1963, four members of the Ku Klux Klan violently stated their racist beliefs against African Americans in the Birmingham Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama (“Birmingham Church Bombing”). As stated in a 2013 Newscurrents article, “The bombing took place because the church was a center of civil rights action… Four young African American girls were killed in the explosion. They were Addie Mae Collins, 14, Cynthia Wesley, 14, Carole Robertson, 14, and Denise McNair, 11” (“Remembering ‘Four Little Girls’”).…

These new rappers and sports stars are being traded and controlled for profit off their black culture for big money in the white man's pocket the same way they were used physically for money and labor. Obviously, this is not as bad as real slavery but it still shows how they can be trapped in racism by letting white men profit off their culture because its “hip”. A lot of rappers make comparisons to the chains they wear being as withholding as slave chains because they realize they are being tricked into focusing on themselves. These huge amounts of money are being poured into these jewelers also profiting off black chain culture and not using the money to help others but focus on themselves. These label heads want rappers to focus on themselves…
