Islamic Culture: Muslims
Shortly after the death of the Byzantine emperor Justinian in 565, Muhammad was born in Arabia. Muhammad claimed that he was the last and by far the greatest of the prophets of the god, Allah. It was Muhammad 's teachings that would be the beginning of a religious movement that will later be known as Islam. Islam means “submission”, referring to the submission that the followers will have towards Allah. The members of this movement were known as Muslims.
Once Muslims began developing into their own culture, they started setting strict rules and regulations into place that one must follow inorder to share the same belief system as the Islams. Muslims had six major beliefs that their culture was based off of. The first …show more content…
Secondly is their belief on the angels of Allah, Muslims believe that angels are unseen beings that carry out the orders of Allah throughout the universe. The third belief is their belief of the books of Allah. Similar to Christians and many other religions, they follow book that they believe is written by prophets and talks about the gospel and scripture. In the Muslims case, they follow multiple books that are written to a number of Allah’s messengers. This leads into the fourth major belief, which is the belief in prophets or the messengers of Allah. Muslims believe that in order to live a healthy and balanced life one must have a strong family life. Traditionally Muslim family is extended, usually spanning three or more generations. Muslims believe that having an extended family offers a multitude of advantages, including coherence, stability and physical and psychological support in times of need. As family members become older that gain more respect due to their account of their life experiences and their hierarchical position within the family unit. The opportunity to be able to attend to the needs of one’s elderly parents is viewed in the Muslim culture as a gift from
