Islam In The USA And The View Of Islam As A Whole .

Islam is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion with over a billion followers. Many Muslims who follow the Islamic religion have been seen as a threat in the USA. Not only have Muslims been discriminated against at their workplaces and at airports but also they have been denied at security checkpoints and protection guaranteed to all other citizens. This sort of misperception towards the Islamic religion has led many people to view it as a religion of violence and terrorism instead of a religion of peace. Although there are some fundamentalists and extremists who have tarnished the Islamic image, Islam is actually a religion of love and peace that

Muslim is a word of universal application for all those who find al-islam as the essence of their religious experience. A mu’min ( follower of Muhammad) is a Muslim because al-islam is his religion, but he walks in this path as a mu 'min,” But yet Americans lack to know the difference between the people of Islam and their religion. We can’t be a nation known to be the land of the free if we don’t obey the amendments that were made by our founding fathers. Muslims weren’t the ones who started a war against the nation, it’s radical organizations that oppose the United States were the ones who started war against them and decided to call themselves Muslims. We should stand as a whole nation and look for the real enemies of this country and do not befriend the Islamic nation.

What people do not realize is that all of the negative imagery of Muslims and Islam effects the lives of the Muslims who chose to call America their home. “It ranges from annoying jokes, to discrimination in employment and education, to the more serious incidents of hate crimes” (Hurley 129). In 1995 six million Muslims were immediately assumed guilty for the Oklahoma City bombing incident by the media. “The Washington-based Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) issued a report recently, called A Rush to Judgment, detailing stereotyping, property damage and physical assaults resulting from unfounded links between Muslims” ( Hurley129). Mosques were vandalized in the process; a Muslim woman had a miscarriage during her eighth month due to an attack on her home in the bombing wake (Hurley…

Ever since the 9-11 attack, we have discriminated against people that look Muslim, or practice Muslim traditions. In today's world when I see a Muslim person I immediately think about terrorism since I know that some of these terrorist groups are muslim, but we only hear about the horrible events they do. America as a whole only wants to see Muslims as a disgraceful group because of the 9-11 attacks, and the terrible events that a few people of Muslim culture committed. Randy Halstrom, my grandfather, who was 56 years old at the time of the attack said, “My view did change on Muslims until I realized that not all Muslims think the same as those terrorists who were behind the 9-11 attacks.” Randy, like most people at the time, thought all Muslims were horrible after these attacks, but later realized that these terrorists were a select few of the Muslim population that committed these crimes.…

After 9/11, prejudice and discrimination regarding the Islamic faith specifically rose. Muslim-Americans started uprooting their lives and fleeing their own homes out of fear of retaliation. The wound becomes fresher and fresher with every terrorist attack because the generalization that all people of the Islamic faith are terrorists becomes reinforced with no valid evidence. Nowadays, those who resemble a Middle Eastern heritage are under attack and considered below the majority. This is a direct threat to their quest for the American…

By definition a Muslim is a follower of the religion of Islam; and Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world behind Christianity. Unfortunately, though, today in the United States many would define a Muslim as someone who is anti-America or even just a terrorist. Bigoted mindsets such as those in the 21st century have had an adverse reaction to how modern day Muslims are received and treated in the United States and aboard. The general public judges the majority of Muslims based on the small percentage of radical Islamic that have caused all the trouble in the past. However, many contend that organizations that have a theology which is founded on hate do not represent any of the traditions in Islam. Many devotees of Islam argue that Islam is a religion of peace. The truth of this assertion may not be entirely accurate; this is because many militant groups carry out their activities through based on a puritanical strain of Islam that is known as Jihadi Salafism. It can be described as a medieval interpretation of Islam that developed when the Arabs were not in good terms with the Europeans as well as the East Asians.…
