The Muslim faith, Islam, is a monotheistic religion that worships the God of Abraham, the same God worshipped by Judaism and Christianity. “Founded in the seventh century, Islam is the youngest of the three monotheistic world religions.” It developed from the Judeo-Christian tradition and the cultural values of the nomadic Bedouin tribes which can still be found throughout the Middle East today. Since the mid-eighth century, Islam has spread into Northern Africa, Europe, Asia, the United States, and the Caribbean. Islam is currently the second-largest religion in the world as well as the fastest growing. The majority of the Islamic population in many of these countries outside the Middle East is mainly due to religious conversions
