The word “Islam” quite literally means “submission.” Islam is a monotheistic faith with a belief in Allah revealed through Muhammad. Those who believe in Islam believe in the Qur’an and in the revelations received by Muhammad. The Shariah, the revelations, and the Qur’an are the set of laws they believe in. These terms show a relationship between humans and God because these people are not just following a religion, but are showing an extreme dedication to God. It is extremely important to them that they focus on his will. The most important concept for describing Islam is the concept of Shari’a, which is a part of the legal implications of these terms.
